Healthy and Delicious Peach Berry Smoothie Bowl

This time of year, we see an abundance of healthy and delicious local produce at the farmers market and road-side stands.  When I was at the farmers market yesterday, I picked up a basket of fresh, juicy peaches.  They are one of my favorite summer fruits!

During the hot summer seasons, many people enjoy lighter meals and snacks.

When you’re looking for a delicious light and healthy meal or snack, there are a number of things to choose from.  For me, I enjoy the powerful and nutritional simplicity of a smoothie bowl. A tightly arranged grouping of carbs, proteins and antioxidants can help you fuel your day properly.  Smoothie bowls are a great option to help you feel energized throughout the entire day.

Not only is this bowl packed with delicious flavors, but it delivers a healthy dose of all sorts of nutrients that your body needs. The proper nutrition and fuel to help you power through your day.

Peaches are high in a variety of trace minerals.  this tasty fruit aids several different systems in the body, such as eye sight and the nervous system.

In addition, they have many positive effects on blood health due to their iron content and its role in blood cell formation. Furthermore, the black and blueberries are extremely high in antioxidants.  They have a strong effect on the skin and general health. Overall, this smoothie is a heavy promoter of cardiovascular health because it also lowers blood pressure and helps to lower cholesterol.

What Goes in It

This Smoothie Helped My Belly Bloat

Have you been experiencing belly bloat?

Feeling like your digestion is making too much noise? Gurgle. Gurgle.

Are those shorts fitting a little tighter around the waist?

The last few months I have been working a lot and often that leads to a stressed me. This means my digestion can get wonky. I know what you might be thinking – that I’m a health coach, and I have this all figured out – but I am human too. In my practice, I teach people how to listen to their body and what to do when they feel wonky too. It’s so important to listen to your body.  Do you know the signs and symptoms when your body is speaking to you?

For me, I get dry skin and start to have belly bloat.  So many of my clients say they have belly bloat even when they do not eat, something that is actually not uncommon for people with digestive issues.  As I have discussed in previous posts, healthy digestion is SO important!

Stress inflames the intestinal lining and disrupts the good balance of bacteria in the gut.

This is what happened to me. It was time to restore and rebuild on the quick.  QUICK!

Feel like you are passing gas too much?

Feel exhausted for no reason?

Just plain feel like crap?

Time to rebuild and restore your gut health with this smoothie.

Every time I am feeling off, I keep it simple: smoothies, juices, and easy-to-digest soups.  There are so many seasonal fresh fruits and veggies for you to play with and explore in your recipes.  Again, keep it simple!  If you’re thinking, “Soups in the summer?”  Yes ma’am!  I make some seriously delish cold soups in the summer.

When I am feeling this way, I try to drink one of my meals or snacks.  It really helps to give my body a break and get back on track.  Check out this smoothie recipe and try it for yourself.

Berry Sexy Smoothie

IMG_0393 (2)

Hello, Sexy spring!!!

Who loves a healthy, cool smoothie on a warm spring day?  I sure do!  I was never one for daily smoothies, but now I start every morning with one.  It’s a great way to incorporate several healthy, delicious greens and fruits to fuel your body.  This yummy goodness includes protein, healthy carbs and fats.  My advice is to watch your fruits.  Many smoothies taste like a dessert because they include too many fruits.  I try to limit my fruits to a few a day and I prefer them earlier in the day or around a workout.  I like to include berries, apples and pineapple.  The sky is the limit!  I also like to use what’s local and fresh!  Frozen berries are a great addition to any recipe.  I would love to hear what’s your favorite blend.  Comment below and share your Berry Sexy Smoothie goodness!

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk (or non-dairy milk of your choice)
  • 1 cup organic mixed berries
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds
  • 1 tablespoon avocado

Note~ If you’re using fresh fruit, add a handful of ice.  I like to use frozen berries and keep the additional ice out of the mix.  If you want additional protein, add in a clean source of vanilla protein powder.

Mix all ingredients in a blender until smooth.

I like to top my smoothies with additional seeds or bee pollen.

ENJOY!
